Database Spotlight: Encyclopedia of Social Work

The 20th edition (2008) of the Encyclopedia of Social Work (ESW) has arrived at Rice Library, in both online and print formats. USI students and faculty members who want to find reliable, succinct introductions to social work topics such as behavioral theory and culturally competent practice will find exactly what they are looking for in the ESW. Each ESW entry can be printed or sent to an email account. Reference librarians will help you with the ESW and any other research question. Visit, call or email the Rice Library Reference Desk: (812) 464-1907 / 1-800-246-6173, or libref@usi.edu. Links to other helpful social work resources are listed on the Social Work Subject Guide.

Faculty in BlackBoard: Making Use of Durable Links

Are you linking to Rice Library's resources from within your course web site (Blackboard) and electronic documents? You could be. It’s an easy way to draw your students’ attention to subject and research guides as well as distribute copies of important articles and chapters that you expect your students to read. A link to an instructional document, "Getting Library Resources into BlackBoard" that will guide you in the process is available on the library’s Distance Learning Services web page under Guides.
